Community Guidelines
Last updated: 31 May 2026
1. Why This Matters
Run on Realms (“ROR”, “the Service”) is a community of runners who track, compete, and chat. These Community Guidelines define what is acceptable and what is not, so everyone can enjoy a safe, respectful experience. They are published as required by the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 §3(1)(a), and form part of our user agreement.
By using any social or community feature — squad chat, posts, realm names, squad names, usernames, bios, business profiles, photos, comments, reactions — you agree to follow these guidelines. Violations may result in content removal, warnings, account suspension, or permanent termination at our discretion.
2. What We Expect
- Be respectful. Treat fellow runners as you'd want to be treated.
- Be authentic. Use a real name or a clearly-fictional handle. No impersonation.
- Be helpful. Offer encouragement, training tips, route advice. Build others up.
- Report problems. If you see content that breaks these rules, report it.
3. What Is Prohibited
The following content and behavior is banned across all ROR features:
- Hate speech & harassment: Content targeting people based on caste, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, race, or any protected attribute. Bullying, threats, doxxing, stalking.
- Sexual content: Nudity, sexually explicit content, sexual harassment. No exceptions.
- Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM): Zero tolerance. Reported immediately to the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal and law enforcement.
- Non-consensual intimate imagery (NCII): Any intimate image shared without consent. Reported and removed immediately.
- Violence & gore: Graphic violence, incitement to violence, terrorist content, content promoting self-harm or suicide.
- Illegal activities: Drug sales, weapons trade, human trafficking, fraud, financial scams.
- Misinformation: Deliberately false or misleading content, especially about health, elections, or emergencies.
- Spam & manipulation: Automated posting, mass-DM, fake engagement (likes/follows/runs), pyramid/MLM promotion.
- Cheating: GPS spoofing, mock locations, bot-driven runs, fake leaderboard entries. See Terms §3.
- Intellectual property violations: Posting copyrighted material without rights. See our Copyright Policy.
- Privacy violations: Sharing another person's personal data, location, photos, contact info without consent.
4. Realm Names, Squad Names, Usernames
Names visible to other users (realm names, squad names, usernames, display names, business names) must additionally meet these criteria:
- No offensive language, slurs, profanity, or obvious obfuscations thereof
- No impersonation of public figures, brands, or other users
- No phone numbers, URLs, email addresses, or other contact info
- No political party names, religious slogans, or content likely to incite communal tension
- No references to illegal activities, drugs, weapons, or self-harm
We may rename or remove names that violate these rules without prior notice, especially when they appear on public leaderboards or maps.
5. Reporting Content or Behavior
If you encounter content or behavior that violates these guidelines:
- In-app: Tap the “report” icon next to any post, message, realm, or user profile
- Email: Send details to [email protected] with screenshots and links
- Emergency / illegal content: For CSAM, NCII, terrorist content, or imminent threats to life, also report to cybercrime.gov.in (National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal) and/or call 112
We acknowledge reports within 24 hours and act on them within 72 hours for most categories, and within 24 hours for CSAM, NCII, or content depicting threats to life as required by IT Rules 2021 §3(2)(b).
6. Moderation & Enforcement
Depending on severity and history, violations may result in:
- Content removal — the offending content is taken down
- Warning — in-app notice explaining what was violated
- Temporary suspension — account paused for 7 / 30 / 90 days
- Permanent termination — for severe or repeated violations
- Referral to law enforcement — for criminal content (CSAM, terror, doxxing, etc.)
Decisions are made by our moderation team. Automated systems may pre-flag content but final action requires human review except for clear-cut criminal content (CSAM, NCII).
7. Appeals
If you believe content was removed or your account was actioned in error, you may appeal by emailing [email protected] with your username and a description of the action. We respond to appeals within 7 days. Decisions on appeals are final.
You may also escalate to our Grievance Officer (see contact below) or the Grievance Appellate Committee under IT Rules 2021 §3A.
8. Updates
We may update these guidelines as the community grows and new behaviors emerge. Material changes will be notified via email or in-app banner. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated guidelines.
